Keep Frozen part zero is a single-channel video work that is a prologue in the Keep Frozen research project of the artist. Length 00:46 loop. HD. Shot in Bildudalur in the West fjords of Iceland. The village has 166 inhabitants and saw its heyday in the 19th century thanks to a booming fishing industry. The inspiration for the video is the fact that despite fresh fish being caught in the fjord and the existence of the fishing factory the grocery shop in town only sells consumer products packed in tins and paper boxes. It tells the story of local products being replaced by import goods and consumer products making Iceland extremely dependant. The shift from sustainability to consumer society.
