Dionysia was an artist run informally structured interdisciplinary residency program that ran from 2007 until 2013 and was initiated, founded and organized by Hulda Ros Gudnadottir. Artists, designers and theorists from all disciplines were involved in the organization and conceptualization of the project in the beginning. In collaboration with village folks and authorities the residency took place in rotating villages around Iceland 10 days each year.

14 villages and more than 100 international participants took part in the Dionysia residency over the years. For more information [ click here ].

The participants were international group of 5 to 7 people with different art, theoretical and design disciplines. The aim was to encourage dialogue between different disciplineswhile tackling a common problem; how to get involved with the locals. The main objective was to encourage collaboration of any kind between local talent and knowledge and the global players that were visiting for a short time. The Dionysia program was thought as a platform that could lead to larger scale and more long-term relationships and projects in the future.
