Artist statement:

What I’m interested in is the observation and analysis of socio-economic trends and cultural changes in my environment and translating it into narrative structures of rich visual symbology. I’m deep into a process that involves creating my own personal iconographical system or mythology at the same time as I’m researching the mythologies of contemporary times that have already been created around me.  This research has until now manifested itself as mixed-media installations and documentaries. I want to continue to explore the media of video, film, photography, print and sculpture while mixing the humorous, performative and the dead serious. I believe the local is the global, the personal is the universal and my works will continue to reflect that.

My diverse background in fine art, filmmaking, design and academia allows me to stand on the crossroads of academic and aesthetic work but also different art genres. I’m interested in making experiments with the boundaries, expanding them, minimizing, and mixing them together and then spitting them out again. Thus I choose to collaborate with individuals and artists of different backgrounds to create the necessary dialogue needed to expand my own vision on the issues involved.
